The color was supposed to match our house, but the match didn't come out quite right. It has a hint of purple to it, but I actually like it a lot. The little "deck" on the front was made by my husband and I plan to replant the container and probably add a couple more smaller ones on the other side as well.
This shows part of the garden in front. There are lots and lots of Bluebells here and once they finish blooming I'll move some out and probably add some Hostas and ferns since it's fairly shady here. Sweet Pea is going to paint her fairy garden whiskey barrel a nice bright color to add a little fun too. The Japanese Maple in it will be perfect as it grows bigger.
Looking from the "deck" there is lots of planting space here. I want to find more evergreen plants for this area. The lighting makes it a little difficult to see, but the area near the stepping stone path gets a good amount of sun, so I've added some Daylilies 'Egyptian Queen' to the Coneflowers, Cape Fuchsia (Phygelius), Campanulas and Penstemon.
Catherine, I love it; it's absolutely perfect! I have always wanted a garden shed too. I know you will thoroughly enjoy this and your flower beds are looking so pretty. I can't believe you are getting snow!
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic! I love the fact the Potting Shed has a small deck of its own. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful, charming shed!! And look at all of the colour in your garden. Such very pretty pictures. You should be very proud! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is so adorable. What a great idea.
ReplyDeleteI am wondering if I could get someone to make me one just slightly larger, and call it a studio. Such fun.
Did you have hail? And thunder and lightning? Can you believe this?
Jen
Yay..it looks absolutely GORGEOUS!! I love the blue..it is super-perfect!! Congrats on getting it painted..yay! Everything looks great..always a treat to see what new here!
ReplyDeleteKiki~
What a charming garden/potting shed! I'm jealous. That side of your yard is really coming along - you've done a lot of work.
ReplyDeleteThat looks just incredible, love the blue!!! What a great look!
ReplyDeleteNancy
What a delightful, colorful shed Catherine, well worth the wait. Your garden in front of it is already coming together and will be wonderful in no time.
ReplyDeleteMore snow, hope it doesn't last.
Have fun ~ FlowerLady
Oh Catherine I just love it! It matches your house so perfect. I bet you are loving it already. Your heuchera's look so pretty in your bed. Snow! Oh yuck! We may see some flurries Sunday after this mini summer we have been enjoying.I planted the dahlia roots into two pots yesterday. Since there will be no freezes (fingers crossed)I think they will be alright now. Thanks so much I appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteCatherine that shed is ADORABLE!! Wow how inspiring... I love the color, it's a kind of New Englandy blue, very sweet and shipshape! I can't wait to see the changes you mentioned in the little "shed garden". It's a great job - Bravo!!!
ReplyDeleteDear Catherine, I am delighted for you but it is far too good to be called a garden shed or even a potting shed. This is, most definitely in my mind, a BOTHY, following a long tradition of gardeners' hideaways. I really do love it and the colour is perfect. I think to have it that shade different from the house is a good thing - too much matching looks a little what my mother called 'newly married'!!
ReplyDeleteYou have turned what was previously an under used area of the garden into a most attractive addition to the whole.
That shed is just charming! Goes perfect with the bed in front of it!
ReplyDeleteI love it Catherine! It's splendid~~and it fits nicely in your garden! gail
ReplyDeleteCatherine, I love your shed! an exciting addition to your home. I spent nearly 5 hours yesterday, potting up additional seedlings, watering, organizing.. a great day and a break from the rain we have had. Please don't send the snow south. ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute shed! And all the flowers look lovely.
ReplyDeleteOur yard and gardens are still such a mess. Yours looks professional, tidy and beautiful!
Too bad it's snowing, but it won't last long.
Adorable!!! I love it. Maybe call it your gardening house. Everything looks so fresh and pretty there.
ReplyDeleteOMG I love it ~ I have just the spot for it in my yard! If only I could blink twice and maybe wiggle my nose and have it magically appear!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet garden shed! And you have lots of room in the bed in front of it for more plants, it will look great!
ReplyDeleteI heard that some lowland areas might have snow today, glad it wasn't us, although some may still show up. So far just lots of very cold wind! Brrrr!
I think it looks like a Garden House rather than a shed. Eventually you'll settle on a name. I have a room that the county calls an 'enclosed porch' though it was never a porch. I call it the Porch, too.
ReplyDeleteWhatever you name it, it is truly beautiful.
You've got to be kidding about the snow. NO
ReplyDeleteWhat a great looking little shed - it looks like a playhouse. You will be able to do all kinds of miracles from the shed. Just kidding... but really..
Everything in your bed is coming along nicesly. I see lots of color.
It is SOOOO CUTE!!!!!!!! You are going to love it!
ReplyDeleteThe shed turned out great! The color may not be correct but I love it! Now to keep the shed from getting filled with dirty floors. I try so hard to keep the dirt out but with a garden shed, impossible. I think this shed was well worth the long wait as it is beautiful. And after all, this blog is title, In Progress….
ReplyDeleteIt is a wonderful shed. Let's not repaint the house now to match the shed, ha. Your flowers look great. I think you are getting snow.
ReplyDeleteLove your Shed! I too live in the NW but we have had sun this morning and heavy winds. Where are you located? I'm in Puyallup. Your garden bed in front of the shed is darling. Here is the link to my blog:

Have a great day!
Oh it's charming - like a little doll house!
ReplyDeleteI love that little shed and garden. Very homey and cozy. Just discovered this blog and will definitely be following!
ReplyDeleteI haven't commented on your blog for a while, but I do pop in from time to time to visit your beautiful garden! Your pictures are beautiful and I LOVE the garden "shed"! (Personally, it doesn't look like a shed! When I think of sheds, I think of falling down old buildings with the paint all chipping off!) Anyway, just wanted to stop by and say "hi"...and thanks for posting such beautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteThat must be the smartest garden shed in the entire universe. Your hours of painting were worth it.
ReplyDeleteWow!!! Its beautiful :-)
ReplyDeleteAhhh! It's adorable! You did a fantastic job and I want to come over and play.
ReplyDeleteIt's adorable!
ReplyDeleteCatherine,
ReplyDeleteThe shed is so cute!. Who cares if it does not match.
Snowing! I hope that was just a cruel joke by Mother Nature and spring continues in your area. It all looks fabulous, and the little deck is a nice touch. The barrel painted will add whimsy as well. You must be thrilled. :-)
ReplyDeleteFrances
Hey that is great - I love it and your flowers are just blooming like crazy. I haven't been around much - we were sick and behind on our scheduled date to go to California. But guess where I am now? In sunny California. Taking a little break and wanted to see what you were up to. I'm going to miss my (shoot can't think of the name of it) the one similar to a Columbine that I've never got to see bloom yet. Looks like I won't this year either so I'm going to watch for the post when yours blooms. Still hasn't come to me. O'well. I'm going to have to enjoy your gardens while I'm here since I can't see mine. Meadow Rue that's it.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shed! You'll spend many happy hours in there...
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty garden shed, love the color too....it's always so much fun to go out in the garden when you have pretty things to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteSylvia
Your shed is adorable, and your garden beds are looking good !
ReplyDeleteEverything looks neat and cheery.
I love the color of your shed! You said it was snowing... check my site tomorrow if you want to see what last night's snowstorm did to my gardens! Mid 20's tonight will add insult to injury!! But I'm cool with it... I guess! At least we didn't get any hail and we did get over two inches of badly needed rain prior to the blizzard... Larry
ReplyDeleteIt looks fantastic, I love it. Your gardens also look great. Snow!, mother nature can be such a downer. Happy Gardening:)
ReplyDeleteI vote 'potting shed'. Sounds more quaint :D I sure wish I had one!
ReplyDeleteQh what a beautiful garden shed! I don't dare to paint my garden shed, as the plants seem to resent the smell of paint. Have a flowery summer! Bye!
ReplyDeleteI love the color, Catherine! Looks neat. Would be waiting for photos with the pots repotted and the space filled.
ReplyDeleteCatherine, I love your shed! Your little gardeners must love it, too! Everything looks so great over there. :-)
ReplyDeleteYour shed is as charming as can be! I love the color and the little porch.
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for all your nice compliments on my new garden shed/ potting shed / garden house / Bothy. I worked inside it today getting it organized. The sun even came out after the hail and snow and it was beautiful.
ReplyDeleteCatherine, I just love it, both the shed and the flowerbed looka wonderful to me. Oh how I long for the perennials to show. But right now my garden is filled with crocus. Have a nice day / gittan
ReplyDeleteSo cute Catherine!! SNOWING? Let us know how that plays out!
ReplyDeleteCatherine, I think your shed is perfect. I love sheds that look like real little houses.
ReplyDeleteEileen
It turned out beautiful. Even if you do nothing else to it but I'm sure you'll "deck" it out even better.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the snow/hail. After you had such a fantastic winter, this is no way for the weather to behave in April! I feel for you tho because it happened here too. By this time of year, you just want it to be warm. Hope things look up soon. Enjoy that new potting shed!
I love it! And I love the blue color with the white trim. It really adds charm to your garden. I want, need, NEED a garden shed too and am still waiting. Patience! You have some great plants in your flower beds. Everything is very pretty and barely into spring. I look forward to watching your garden's progress through the seasons.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. It is hard to believe that you are getting snow in April. Isn't that kind of rare this time of year in the Seattle area? I hope you do not get too much. I love your new little house and especially your little cat. Every house needs a cat :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the shed, it's so cute. How nice to have something like that and it looks great.
ReplyDeleteCatherine, the shed is like a little house. I like it. Also how darling is Cookie. I love big furry bunnies. G
ReplyDeleteoh Catherine I just love it - its so stylish for the garden along with the little deck area. I want to see inside it next!
ReplyDeletePeriwinkle blue, with the bluebells. I love it! We are doing battle with painting our blue shed. The second tin of paint is Not the Same BLUE!
ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised that there are 56 comments before mine because your shed (it's too perfect to be called a shed) is absolutely the best. You could not have done a better job with it. The hard work was worth it.
ReplyDeletedonna
Catherine, So you got a new potting shed too! Hip, hip hooray for us! I filled the inside of my shed today and it took about 10 hours< I had no idea that I had acquired so many gardening accessories, over the years. I can hardly wait to go out there in the morning with a nice cup of coffee and a fresh new garden book! Jeri
ReplyDeleteWell, it puts my shed to shame. Paint. Now, there's a concept I should consider.
ReplyDeleteI love your shed and the deck in front of it. The pots and such look so homey on it, and I do like that color, too. Your flower beds are looking great. I can't believe you had snow so near your last frost free date. I hope we don't get any more. Oh, and you had hail too! I hate hail! I hope your plants are recovering OK.
ReplyDeleteHi Catherine~~ Life is good. Your shed looks wonderful, but I must say, "shed" doesn't do it justice. More like "tool villa" or "boarding house" or "shovel cottage" or "manor hut" etc. Okay, I'll go away now. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, that has to be the cutest shed ever! My hubbie is in the process of planning one - it's for the front yard, so it has to look especially nice. I'll show him yours for inspiration.
ReplyDeleteCatherine, Your garden shed is so pretty! Ours is more "utilitarian," but I am glad to have it! Right now my hubby needs to go clean it out - it resembles a basement - ie it is full and not very tidy! he he he
ReplyDeleteGreat addition to your beautiful garden!!!
Beth
I am loving your little shed!!!! It's both cute and pretty. And the color is very nice. I like how the roofline is off centered--just love it all. We little girls and our sheds........I don't ever want to grow up.
