The Dogwood is a favorite spot of the Chickadees who fly to it from the feeders to open their sunflowers.
I had wondered if this tree would be early like so many other plants in our garden, but it appears to be pretty close to on time. It usually blooms about mid April.
And while I was taking pictures of the Dogwood, look who else was enjoying himself in the sun? Cookie is in heaven when he gets to hop and run through the grass (or should I say moss?).
Then he found a nice sunny spot, just like cats and dogs do, and stretched out. He has grown so much already and has been very tame, hopping right up to us for a petting.
Rabbits and Dogwood blossoms sure feel like Spring to me!
Cookie is the best.
ReplyDeleteYour bunny is so cute! And the dogwood - WOW. just WOW.
ReplyDeleteYour Dogwood tree is so pretty Catherine. My lilac bush is really blooming now and the butterflies and bees were swarming it yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI have been meaning to ask about the bunny. You are such a champion to try to raise one. It is so cute though and I am sure the girls love it.
What a delight this posting was, dogwood and little Cookie.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy Catherine. You've got a lovely place there, with wonderful blooms surrounding you everywhere you look.

Cookie is just the perfect spring post. Isn't it interesting how some things have been so far ahead and others not?
ReplyDeleteDear Catherine, The Cornus is indeed wonderful and is made even more so by the enchanting, rather Alice in Wonderland image, looking up into it.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a rabbit looking quite like Cookie. I presume that he is a special breed. Whatever, I am sure that he is very special to all of you.
Perfect Spring picture, like the cover of a children's book.

Cornus is beautiful! I think Cookie likes your garden. He has found a beautiful place to just hang out.
ReplyDeleteMy mother in laws Pink Dogwood was starting to bloom while we were in VA last week. I find it interesting the way it is red then turns pink as it unfurls. Cookie is so sweet but watch out for the nibbling as a stick today may be a prized flower or plant tomorrow, hee hee. Your pond looks great after a bit of cleaning. I did not think it looked dirty in the past but after a good cleaning, I guess it shows! Another reason my hubby will not allow a pond in our landscaping. Snakes, other critters and cleaning. I will just enjoy your pond…
ReplyDeleteAwww...Cookie seems as happy about spring as you are! I'd so love to plant a specimen Dogwood here. I'm just not sure if I get it to grow will all the deer pressure we have though.
ReplyDeleteYour dogwood tree is magnificent and is such a gift to you by the person who planted it. That is what we do when we plant a tree.
ReplyDeleteCookie is so soft looking. Does he find clover flowers to nibble on? My bunny loved those.
I love the signs of spring and I can only imagine how soft that sweet Cookie is.
ReplyDeleteQuite the definition of Spring. Our Pink Dogwood is little...hoping it's happy where it's planted.
ReplyDeleteOoohh your bunny is so cute. I love the beautiful blooms on the tree. I am so glad that we are finally getting the spring we have been waiting for. We are experiencing some really warm weather here.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love pink dogwoods, yours is so pretty! And Cookie just cute, all stretched out there in the sun.
ReplyDeleteCatherine, I love your bunny. Do you keep in a hutch or cage. I would love a big bunny. Your dogwood is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWAAAAOOOOWW!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful tree! I have seen small shrublike specimens of the pink dogwood, now I know what to expect when I get one!
Have a nice evening Catherine!
What a cute little bunny. Cookie is such a great name. We had friends who had a bunny and it would sit up for Vanilla Wafers...a cookie. :-)
ReplyDeleteLove red/pink dogwoods.
The dogwood tree is beautiful Catherine. And Cookie is such a cutie - how fun to let him hop around in the grass on a nice spring day.
ReplyDeleteCookie is so cute! Beautiful photos Catherine!
ReplyDeleteHi Catherine~~ I noticed a photo of Cookie in your sidebar a few posts ago and wondered if he was a new addition or if I just not seen the photo. I love that he'll climb on your lap. And he definitely looks right out home all stretched out...
ReplyDeleteOddly Dogwoods are not blooming yet here to the south of you. Lilacs are spot on though. They're usually abloom on hubby's birthday, the 15th. Except for last year, of course. :)
Give Cookie a hug for me.
No blooming dogwood trees here. Our dogwoods are stubby little shrubs and not even those are blooming. I don't blame your rabbit a bit for lying around: a spot of sunshine, twenty more degrees of heat, and a patch of green grass and that would be me, too.

Hi Catherine I have missed your posts. The Cornus is beautiful and Cookie is a sweety.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful dogwood. I can just seeing the chickadees alighting on the branches. I so miss those little birds that graced my old garden. Your Cookie is adorable!
ReplyDeleteI cannot get over the dogwood!!! Ours is very small and just planted a year ago, but we only have ONE bloom!
ReplyDeletePretty blooms and what a precious bunny. If you get the chance check this lady's blog for a photo of the single tuberoses-

Catherine,
ReplyDeleteThat cookie is so cute. Too many dogs and cats around here for cookie to be happy. Wonderful pink dogwood! We killed our pink dogwood during the building of the addition.
Beautiful tree, I would love to able to grow one in my yard, but it is only a Zone 4. Cute bunny:)
ReplyDeleteThat's an amazing tree. Flowers and Bunnies. Looks like Spring to me! :-)
ReplyDeleteIncredible tree! I've never seen anything like it before. Cookie is just too cute, what a wonderful addition to your family. :)
ReplyDeleteCookie looks so cuddly that I just wanna scoop him through the monitor! Wonderful blooms there, Catherine!
ReplyDeleteHi! the big Pink Dogwood is a very nice tree, It's the first time I see one.
ReplyDeleteAnd Cookie is a beautiful rabbit and so cute.
Ellada.
Oh look at that Cookie stretched out, how sweet! Your dogwood is amazing, Catherine. Ours are all young and not even having a particularly good blooming year although the mature ones around town are loaded with blooms. You are so lucky to have inherited that one! :-)
ReplyDeleteFrances
What a cute bunny you have! He's adorable.
ReplyDeleteLove that pink dogwood. We have a white one. Wanted pink, got white. It's still very pretty when in bloom.
I love pink dogwoods too, and Cookie is an absolute doll!
ReplyDeleteI have gotten pictures of the Wood Ducks before -- they're not great, but they're here. I'd love to get more, but they are hard to photograph!
I'm so glad to hear that your dogwood survived transplanting - we just dug up ours and moved it from the southwest corner of the house to a protected spot on the east. I'm crossing my fingers it survives and then thrives without so much intense heat. It usually starts blooming in May, a few weeks after yours. This year I'll have a dark pink, light pink and white dogwood blooming - I guess to go with the dark pink, light pink and white crabapples we've planted. I love pink.
ReplyDeleteHaha! That bunny is so cute that it almost looks fake :D I love dogwoods...here they're mostly white-flowering.
ReplyDeleteYour dogwood is breathtaking! I wish I had room in our little yard for one, I do admire them so! Lovely pics as always ~ wishing you a lovely day!
ReplyDeleteMoss gets a bad rap! It's green & squishy & easy to grow. I love dogwood trees. Yours is especially beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYay for Cookie! He reminds me of my old 4H show bunny named "Zinnia", New Zealand Red. She was a good girl. We started a new term in the family, "Getting flat"/"I'm going to go get flat" watching Zin kick her back legs way out like Cookie is doing - the ultimate gesture of relaxation! What a lovely sunny day we are having here in the Puget region! Cheers, Bonnie
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute bunny! The tree is beautiful. Never had one of those. But the spring trees around here are resplendent right now.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
I can't believe the number of blooms on your dogwood! WOW! It's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHi Catherine,
ReplyDeleteWell, I was going to say that I loved your dogwood and the beautiful shades of color on the blooms. But then I saw your adorable bunny....now I can't remember what I was going to say about your tree ;-)
That dogwood might have sold the house for me! It's spectacular Catherine. Lucky you.
ReplyDeleteCookie is cuter than cute. I love that pic with legs outstretched. I saw an itty bitty baby bunny in my yard today (cottontail). It was so cute ~ about 4" long so really small. I love seeing all the spring babies.
I love the shape of dogwoods.
ReplyDeleteAnd bunny-buns!
That cookie is so cute. I love bunnies!
ReplyDeleteJealous and happy for you about your blooming dogwood! Mine's a sad site this year - even posted on how pathetic it and it's brothers around the city are. I'm thinking too much snow. Enjoy yours though!
ReplyDeleteKatherine, The pink dogwood is lovely and Cookie is ADORABLE! A few years back, we found a lop-eared rabbit in our backyard. He was tame, and we took him in and found a new home for him. Rabbits can be very nice pets.
ReplyDeleteBeth
Catherine, the dogwood is gorgeous, but oh how I like that fluffy, soft, silky, touchable and huggable creature!
ReplyDeleteI think he is so adorable! I miss our bunny Peter.
