It was difficult to capture Mt. Rainier during the sunrise because of the lighting, but the lower foothills of the Cascades were visible.
It's always surprising how fast the sky changes while the sun is rising. I stood in the front yard to soak in the pink glow, it was amazing.
How thankful I am to be able to take the time to enjoy this beauty!
It was never completely clear of clouds this morning, but it was bright and dry. So bright that the Littlest Gardener brought me her bathing suit to put on her and was quite upset that it wasn't as warm as it looked.
I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving that will be celebrating tomorrow. We'll not only be celebrating Thanksgiving, but my nephew's first birthday. I am so lucky that my whole family will be there, including my sister and her family from Idaho.

The sky images are stunning! I'm also one of those people who's always peeking out to see the sky-shades:)

ReplyDeleteI can tell you love this state as much as I do. You can't get closer to heaven than days like this in the Northwest. You took some amazing photos of the sunrise and I am so glad you did. It was absolutely stunning!

What a gorgeous sunrise! My kids have put on their swimsuits in cold weather and thrown fits about not being able to go outside. Silly kiddos.
ReplyDeleteHave a great Thanksgiving.
Nalley and I both are mesmerized by your lovely photos Catherine. What a beautiful sunrise with everything drenched in pink light and the mountain with snow is so pretty. What a blessing to be with your family tomorrow and to be celebrating a first birthday too. Enjoy the day!
ReplyDeleteWow - these photos are so beautiful. What an awesome view! Happy thanksgiving :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful colorful pictures you got. We sure miss getting colorful skies up here in the woods - but the stars at night are great! Mt. Rainier sure popped out and it's huge from your view. I don't know why I didn't take a picture of it yesterday when shooting Mt. St. Helens and the Cascades with the sun shining on them. I can see them both from the same place.
ReplyDeleteHave a great Thanksgiving and enjoy that 1st birthday with your nephew - ya only see that once!
Catherine, what can one say but WOW! What beautiful shots. Snow is so pretty at a distance ;-) I love the cloud on top of the mountain too.
ReplyDeleteYou and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Gorgeous sunrise...what a wonderful capture!!! Happy Turkey Day to you and yours!!!
ReplyDeleteHow grand it would be able to see a mountain every day. That is a true blessing. Have a great Thanksgiving...and definitely eat too much!
ReplyDeleteI'm a peaker-out-of-windows too, and that beautiful pink and blue sky was what I saw first thing this morning too, when I got up to drive DH to the train station. I almost grabbed my camera to take some pics, but I knew I couldn't do justice to the beauty of the sky and the snow on Rainier. But you did, you take such gorgeous photos! I live on one of the ridges south of Seattle, and the valley down below was full of fog this morning, it looked like a lake, with the ridges poking up like islands.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you took pictures of this beautiful morning, and so glad you posted them!
Your photo caught my eye in my sidebar. Our sunset this evening was pink like your sunrise. I took a bunch of photos. Yours are gorgeous! I think the 4th and 5th are my favorites. I like the close up of the leaves in the 4th, and the mountain in the 5th. That made me shiver, though, because I got cold all the way through from taking photos, and haven't warmed up yet, even with a blanket around my shoulders.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you, too.
Yes, it was a great day (well, half-a-day), and you are so lucky to have that view! The sky pictures are majestic! Have a nice Thanksgiving with your family!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, Catherine! The colors are so rich. Mt. Rainier is huge, isn't it? What do you think about this weather? Such a nice change from the past few weeks. Happy Thanksgiving to you too, Catherine. We have much to be thankful for!
ReplyDeleteWhat stunning photos. I can imagine only what it was like in person.
ReplyDeleteHello Catherine,
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful way to begin your day. Because our climates are such opposites, we get excited when we wake up to a cloudy day.
I hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow with your family.
Marvelous to turn on the pc the morning and to find me before the photos of your pink morning!!!
ReplyDeleteI wish you a happy Thanksgiving, sweet Catherine!! =)

I haven't been to Washington state since 1966. We were visiting my brother who was stationed out there. You are so deserving of such beautiful sights like this as you do get a lot of rain. Beautiful photos. Enjoy the family.
ReplyDeleteTerrific sunrise photos Catherine. I open my eyes and look around to see how bright the room is ~ if it's pretty light, I get excited too (thinking the sun is up). If it's dark and dreary, I lay there a bit longer. How lucky you are to have birthday cake on Thanksgiving ~ that's better than pumpkin pie in my book! I hope you have a wonderful holiday with your family.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful sunrises, and an amazing mountain! My geography is virtually non-existent, and if someone had asked me where Mt Rainier is, I'd have probably said Switzerland! Lucky you to have a view of such a mountain!
ReplyDeleteCatherine, I am thankful that I didn't miss this post. Your photos are over the rainbow wonderful. I can't stop looking at them. To be able to look out and see Mt. Rainier like that is phenomenal.
ReplyDeleteHope you and your loved ones had a warm and cozy Thanksgiving.
Glorious and breathtaking views! I am the same way. I look out the window first thing. :)
ReplyDeleteThe snow is gorgeous on Mt. Rainier. Nice shot!
