The weather has not been cooperating with us this week. We had big plans to complete our project by the end of this weekend, but instead we have had snow and record low temperatures for the third day in a row. We're hoping we might be able to get just a little more done tomorrow, before it's supposed to snow again. Nothing you can do about the weather I know, but still it's frustrating when it doesn't cooperate.
Since my husband has been working so hard this week on our garden and in such cold conditions I thought I'd let him be the one to draw the name of the CSN giveaway winner. All the names were put into a colander and he reached in and picked out Shirley of Edmonton, Canada. Her blog is
The Gardening Life. Congratulations Shirley! Take a visit to her blog to see some real snow. Our four inches is nothing compared to what she's gotten.
The frozen pond.
Snowy path.
Daffodils getting close to blooming.
Blueberry bushes covered in snow.
Winter sowing under the snow.
I've been alerted by several people that my blog is one of the ones being copied and posted onto another "blog". It's very frustrating that there are people that want to make money off of another person's work, especially since I don't make a penny from my blog, it's for fun. I'm trying to figure out how to report the blog but can only get so far before there seems to be a dead end with the report abuse page. If anyone has any suggestions on what to do I'd appreciate it.
All words and photos in this post are property of

My blog also has been copied. How do they do this? Mine made its way to Turkey.I hope they enjoy my snow too.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the award! I am so excited! I will watch for an email from you.
ReplyDeleteShirley - I'll email you now, just thought it would be fun for you to find out on here :)
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I love seeing the photos of your snow! We're supposed to get rain/snow showers tomorrow, but we'll see how that pans out! Sorry about what's happening to your blog...I dont' completely understand it, or how it happens, but it doesn't sound right.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Shirley! Let us know what you decide to get for your garden :)
ReplyDeleteCatherine, my blog was copied once. I right clicked to find out as much as I could. Then I went to http://www.whois.net/
Put in their url and you'll find out a lot more- namely who they host through, and possibly an email- which is what I came up with. I emailed them and told them they had 24 hrs. to remove my content or I'd go to their hosting company to get the issue resolved. It worked- they emailed me apologized (the scum :) and my content was removed. I've checked the site since- it no longer exists.
I check copyscape monthly, but their free version doesn't really give you much.
Hope this help- looks like some beautiful snow you have there!
Sorry to know you are unable to continue with your garden plans this weekend :(
ReplyDeleteI'm baffled as to why anyone would need to copy someone else's blog and present it as their own...to what purpose? What could they possibly want to or hope to achieve? I sincerely hope you manage to resolve this unhappy situation, Catherine!
Your gardens are lovely even in the snow. I hope you have warmer temps. soon.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I would even know where to go to find out if someone copied my blog. I put the usual "this is my property..." at the suggestion of my husband. Good Luck!
Lovely snow pics, I suppose we will be getting ours today.
ReplyDeleteMy blog gets copied all the time, Aggghhh~!!!!! It drives me nuts.
Frustrating when you can't find out who is doing it.
I once was accused of being the spammer when I asked for help on a Google forum. Frustrating, and useless that's what those copiers are.

You actually managed to send a little of your snow this far south this morning! I'll post pics on Monday, but I have to say, yours looks prettier than ours ;) It's ok though, you'll catch up on your garden, you've already done so much. I hope you can get to the root of the thieving evil fiends that are lifting your content, it seems to be epidemic at the moment, and irritates me to no end when that happens. If you can find out who is hosting the copy, file a DMCA complaint with them.
ReplyDeleteCatherine, I'm sorry someone is stealing your content. It sucks!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the weather. Thank God it's almost over and the warm up is looming. We hope anyway.
Yep, winter is sowing under the snow. We're having the same type of weather. In fact, it's snowing today and we have already received about 3 inches. BTW, I relaunched my gardening website located at www.GardenStems.com. Maybe I'll see you around there. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteI saw on the weather that you were going to be white for a while. My wife's paintings get copied and are being sold as frame copies over in China. They stop them as Ebay shuts them down but then they just create a new account. Maybe put watermark lettering over your photos with A Garden in Seattle in Progress will keep them from reposting yours.
ReplyDeleteSo much snow.

Beautiful snowy Pictures! Loved the hollyhock n the imperial pink poppy on the side bar. They look colourful n warm in contrast to the white snow.
ReplyDeleteFrom looking at your pictures, and how green everything is, I didn’t think snow was even a possibility for your area….I hope it passes soon!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear your blog is being copied Catherine. I second L.D.'s suggestion to add a watermark to your photos. You could also begin and end each post with a short blurb. "this blog is written by" with your name and your url.
ReplyDeleteDave from The Home Garden has some good tips about content stealers!
ReplyDeleteYou have some exciting signs of Spring. :-)
burrrrrr ....sweet blog you have....
ReplyDeleteI saw your picture on a comment on another blog and thought I'd visit your blog too. Your garden is gorgeous! I am very envious of you, I live in an apartment and all my garden is a small potted plant.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear that your blog is being copied... I hope something can be done about that.
I'll be following your blog. Take care!
It is a pleasure to read your blog. I love it.
ReplyDeleteAfter years of little boys using my kitchen utensils to build bridges, creeks and tunnels in the garden, I had very few matching pieces of cutlery. Thus, I chose a new set of cutlery with the CSN gift voucher. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great choice! I guess you might have to hide the new cutlery from your kids :)
