We made a couple of Snowgardeners. This guy found that the Kale and Chard were looking pretty good after digging them out from under the snow.
This one had a butterfly on it, I guess it mistook the Butterfly bush branches for a flower.
These Snowgardeners are all organic too!
Snowy picket fence.
The pond is pretty slushy right now since it's not really that cold, just around freezing.
Yesterday the Robins were visiting, today not many birds are around.
All the plants have a heavy coating of snow.
Gracie tried her best to sneak out from the gate, luckily the snow made it tricky.
The hummingbirds have been around and fighting for the feeders. I think I better refill them soon. This one sat while Sweet Pea was playing right by it, not bothered at all by the activity.
It will be interesting to see if we do get this record breaking snow they keep talking about on the news. Luckily we are fully stocked on the important things like Diet Coke and Taco Doritos. Oh, and we have plenty of milk and fruit and that type of thing too ☺

I am longing for a good snow. I need a few days to hibernate. So many cute pictures. I cannot believe you still have hummingbirds. Wow! Stay warm and enjoy!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you've been having a great time out in the snow. Your snowmen are fantastic!! Love that they are your garden helpers...hehe! Great shots of your garden Catherine and the hummer shot is gorgeous! I have been getting so many birds around today, its been quite a thrill =) I am sitting here with blue skies and little snow on the ground, I think your way was in the firing line! Hope you are staying warm...Cheers Julia xx
ReplyDeleteCan't get by without that Diet Coke! I bought two cases of it before the storm, hope it lasts. Love the snowmen, I bet you and Littlest had the most fun!
ReplyDeleteCatherine,
ReplyDeleteGracie's photo under the fence is priceless! Still no sign of snow here.
Hi Catherine, your yard looks lovely with all the snow. I think it is so great that you take time to play with your child and build the gardener snowmen. My favorite photo in this post is the one of Gracie trying to sneak out underneath your garden gate. She looks so cute and a little bit guilty, exactly as if she knew that she is not allowed to be doing that!

Your garden looks so nice. The snow gardeners are fun!!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you have a hummer hanging around for the coming snow.
Love your snow people !!!
ReplyDeleteI only took photos of dogs playing in it.
It will be interesting to see if we really get our second storm today.
Most of all I love the snowy picket fence!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
I love your organic snow gardeners! Too cute :) Oh, and I've been meaning to tell you that I adore your humming bird feeder!! Your gardens look quiet and serene in the snow. It will be very interesting to see what happens overnight. P.S. You are cracking me up with your diet coke and dorito's! Cheers, Jenni
ReplyDeleteCatherine, love your snowgardeners! You have much more snow than we have here. Boys dream about school closure! They built a snow fort on the golf course yesterday and need another day to finish it.
ReplyDeleteStay warm!
Adorable snow gardeners, and I love the guilty look on Gracie's face too! It's not snowing here, but it is cold. We woke up to 23F this morning! All the hoses frozen, and the poultry waterers. I think your snow storm tomorrow is probably the same storm that's projected to FINALLY bring us some rain! Goodness knows the garden really needs it!
ReplyDeleteWe've been the Seattle area since last Wednesday. When we arrived it was clear and over the last few days we got to experience the snow! We're at the airport now to head back to Vegas so sounds like we'll miss the big snow. Glad you will just be staying in. Your garden still looks so lovely in the snow! We are looking at houses on the east side...it's close to where my husband works. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteThis is not supposed to be, we just had a trace today!

Catherine, as usual your posts do not disappoint. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this - what a great activity for you and your "littlest gardener" to enjoy together! ~Debra
ReplyDeleteYour yard is so inviting - even covered in snow. We are just starting out, so I know it will take me several years to have all the hardscape pieces in. While we're so new at this, I'm going to be visiting your blog for glimpses of how it's done. You make it look so easy! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're enjoying your snow...looks just beautiful...that pic of Gracie is priceless!
ReplyDeleteToo cute! I love your organic snow gardeners and the photo with the hummer. Such a creative post, making winter so inviting! I'm still hoping for some white stuff over this way....
ReplyDeleteThose organic snow gardeners are awesome! Thanks for the giggle.
ReplyDeleteOur hummingbirds migrate and it is so strange to see a little hummer in the snow!! Love Gracie trying to get under the fence gate.
ReplyDeleteIf your snow gardeners weed for you,I'll have to build a few here. I hope the snow is less than forecast, but we'll see tonight. Tonight I stocked up on Diet Pepsi, wine, and Maui's Own chips.
ReplyDeleteI still can't get over in y our zone you have snow. I have been in there when it has snowed...and then you have hummers too with the snow...just too cute...you have more than we do :)
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is Brrrrrr.
ReplyDeletenice !
ReplyDeletebut....with all the pollution in the air,i doubt that they would qualify for "organic", certainly not certified organic!
The photo's with the snow looks great. I hope the storm that is forcasted does not visit your place.
ReplyDeleteStay warm
Marijke
It looks great Catherine but I hear you are really getting hit with a blast today, coming to us on Friday!
ReplyDeleteEileen
You did get some snow. I heard a real storm is coming in for your state. What a cute little gardening snowman. Sweetpea did a good job. It looks so natural in your garden. The pictures of the pond look so pretty. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteOur forecasters always seem to give up when snow is forecast - it could be this much or that much and you get the impression they havent got a clue!! Looking forward to your next post to see if the record breaking snow arrived
ReplyDeleteThe snow is so pretty. Not so much when it is melting and slushy. Ya'll have fun. Would love to see some snow here this year.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like the forecast is saying that you will be receiving a lot more snow today, Wednesday. I hope everyone and the gardens will be ok. You gardens and your little dog are great photos.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if we eventually get some of that snow, we have gotten almost nothing so far this year...great job and creativity on that snowman!
ReplyDeleteI've been anxiously awaiting our first snow, but none in the forecast as of yet. I love the snow gardeners & the sweet photo of Gracie!!
ReplyDeleteCute snowman!! I'm waiting for enough snow and right conditions, myself! ;-) Gracie is so cute - reminds me of our Sidney.
ReplyDeleteWhat great photos that bring a smile. Your pooch in the fence is adorable. I like Mr. Snowman too. Looks like he is ready to lend a hand.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you still have hummers in winter! How lucky you are, because I sure miss them. Hey, be sure to come by to see my new blog. Someone else's fraud caused mine to be deleted, and I haven't been able to recover it. Grrrr.

I have mild weather in Kentucky and have tricked myself into gardening early, but never this early. Thank you for showing us the snowman's heart for our favorite hobby.
ReplyDeleteNever too early to get things ready for gardening. With Ground Hog's Day coming up everyone knows regardless of the prognostication that spring is on its way. I have an article you may be interested in here ... http://www.startingseedsindoors.com
