It's the first Friday of September and school is back in session here. The weather has gotten cooler and the evenings shorter. The deck was covered in pine needles yesterday, a big sign that fall is around the corner. I swept the first big pile of many more to come this fall and winter. They are the long Ponderosa pine needles that tangle and get caught in everything below them. One morning after a good wind I'll take some pictures of just how many fall at a time. Luckily Sweet Pea loves sweeping them up, and asks me to leave the job for her. Funny how I can't get her to clean her room but she will clean outside. Sounds like a future gardener for sure!
Anyway, here are some flowers blooming today:
Rose 'Iceberg' lots of buds still coming. It'll probably bloom for at least another month.
Cosmos 'Sensation Mix', I think this is my favorite color.
The Sunflower was blowing a bit in the breeze as I was taking pictures. I love how it turned out with the sky behind it. I couldn't tell there was a honeybee on it until after I loaded the pictures onto the computer.
The Littlest Gardener picking one of her many bouquets was trying for one flower and ended up with a whole bunch.
Luckily she left some in the ground.
Phygelius 'Yellow Sovereign' is the color of butter.
Variegated Wallflower (Erysimum) has bloomed for many months. I just love how the flowers change colors. It stayed on the shorter side and has been great at the front of the border.
Zinnia 'Green Envy' is one I've shown a lot, but I just like it so much I can't help it.
Zinnia 'Apricot Blush' has huge flowers on it. You can see Echinacea 'Tiki Torch' in the upper right corner.
Each Friday Tootsie Time hosts Fertilizer Friday. Visit her to find more flowers blooming!
