Starting inside is my first Amaryllis 'White Christmas'. This was actually the last one to sprout, but the first one to bloom. It's got another stalk of flowers coming up as well.
The Meyer Lemon tree is blooming like crazy. The whole room smells so sweet from it. I'm not able to tell yet whether any lemons have started yet.

Outside more and more Pansies are blooming. These are in the window boxes under our dining room window.
Another Pansy in one of the deck planters.

Sarcococca ruscifolia or Sweet box has begun blooming! What a delicious smell these have. The flowers are tiny but very strongly scented. You can see the berries that form after the flowers have finished blooming.
Hellebores in the backyard are blooming. This plant is further along than the rest, but the others look like they should bloom in the next week or two.
Garden Bloggers Bloom Day is hosted on the 15th of every month by Carol of May Dreams Gardens, visit her to see what she and other gardeners have blooming. Nice bright blossoms for Bloom Day, nothing better. Violas were my only outside blooms. Love the white Amaryllis. I'm declaring this the Year of the Amaryllis and plan on buying lots of bulbs this fall for bloom from Christmas through Valentines. How much better could it be?
ReplyDeleteHi Catherine,
ReplyDeleteI can almost smell your lemon blossoms. The scent of citrus blossoms is just heavenly. I hope you get many lemons this year.
Love, love the white Amaryllis...that looks like a little lemon in the center of your bloom....it's been so long since ours made any though. I know the scent is beautiful. What a gorgeous apricot colored Pansy!! Good show today.
ReplyDeleteLemon blossoms are the sweetest! Wishing you get lemons this year!

ReplyDeleteCatherine, beautiful blossoms and I can smell both the lemon blossom and the Sarcococca. ;)
ReplyDeleteYou've got so much going on and it all looks great. I was going to walk around again but it won't quit raining and you know I'll melt if I go out in it. I did check my Hellebores though and I see no sign of it. Hmmmm now that I finally liked the way it got prettier with age it dies on me.
ReplyDeleteYours are wonderful... it is all about the images today isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI did a V-Blog from my GREEN Zone for Bloom Tuesday. I hope you will stop by and take a look.

ReplyDeleteI am waiting to see lemons on your lemon tree! Your blooms are beautiful on this january day. I have hellebores, but none with any blooms yet. It shouldn't be long!
ReplyDeleteYou have so many pretty blooms! I'm beginning to think my hellebores isn't going to do a darned thing this year.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Your pictures are so pretty Catherine. Love the macro shots of the hellebore , pansy and the lemon blooms. Wish I could smell those lemon blooms.
ReplyDelete'White Christmas' is a beautiful Amaryllis. Your lemon tree is making me miss my tangerine tree. Ours usually bloomed in Jan/Feb. The fragrance of citrus blossoms is sublime!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful blooms for a double day! I will keep my fingers crossed for lemons to form...though I think the flowers alone are worth having one of those babies!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool picture of the hellebore!
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty blooms and I just wish I could get a whiff of their sweet scent! I am anxious for our hellebores to bloom - probably be another 6 -8 weeks here. Wishing you a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI could almost smell the lemon flower! Great pictures as usual!
ReplyDeleteHow lucky you are to have January blooms outside! No chance of that here. I've been longing to grow a Meyer Lemon, I think I'll buy a tiny one and give it a try.
ReplyDeleteYour garden sings spring! Lovely photos and blooms... sweet pansy faces ... I imagine the delicious fragrance from your myers lemon and the sweet box. The hellebore steals the show for me... visually at least ... a masterpiece! Hope you have a great weekend! Carol
ReplyDeleteAs usual, your photos are just beautiful. I love that hint of green on that Hellebore. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteHi Catherine
ReplyDeleteWouldn't even know it's winter looking at this post.
I've only recently heard about Meyer lemon. Apparently the fruit is sweeter than a normal lemon.
Rob
Blow on your lemon flowers or give the bush a little shake and that might help with the pollination. The scent in that room must be incredible.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Rosie
'White Christmas' sure made up for lost time! Glad your Amaryllis are starting to bloom Catherine. It's so pretty. There are so many that look similar but have different names ~ I'm thinking of my 'Green Goddess' & how it looks a lot like your 'White Christmas??' I don't know that I've ever smelled a citrus plant in bloom ~ I'm going to have to go to the greenhouse and check it out. It would be wonderful to have something pleasant perfuming the air instead of paper whites! Love the hellebore photos too. I knew you would have blooms! Hope it was a good day.
ReplyDeleteHi everyone, just checking in to say thanks for visiting and I'll be around to visit all your bloom day and FF posts soon as I can.
ReplyDeleteCIELO - We live in north of Seattle, I guess we're pretty lucky to have things blooming now.
you always have just the nicest photos! your flowers are just gorgeous...and it is making me ache all over for spring!
ReplyDeletethanks for joining in this week with me!
What a glorious amaryllis Catherine and such an apt name. The lemon flowers look so pretty - keeping my fingers crossed that you get some fruit :)

Wonderful !!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are always charming and envy your blooms, it seems true that you already have it in January.
I loved the photos of your Helleborus and this year I decided that I introduce in my garden. A double flower has just arrived from England and the other was given to me by a dear friend, but not yet in bloom.
Thanks for your always special news!! Kisses!!
Hi Catherine, What beautiful photos and blossoms!! I was in a Chinese grocery yesterday. They had a couple of "lemon tree/plants." I asked about blossoms and they said they didn't get them. Must be a different variety... (Are there plants that never blossom??) Hm!
ReplyDeleteIt will be my goal to have a white amaryllis someday. Your white one is gorgeous. I have never seen a yellow pansy like that. Good for you that those pansies are doing well. They sell them around here in the fall but we just can't keep them that long.
ReplyDeleteI'm new to my garden blogging. Had no idea we have a bloom day, how great is that! LOVE your blooms, just beautifu. TFS
ReplyDeletexxxx
Citrus blossom just has the most amazing perfume! Just what you need indoors this time of year!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of happy faces and I know yours makes my day. Big hugs to you.
ReplyDeleteHow nice it must be to have blooms outside in January.
ReplyDeleteYou lucky duck!
