It makes walking around the yard even more fun. You could try coffee grounds around the hyacinths. I have tried it around two of my plants the slugs have seemed more than usually attracted to. One it worked great. the acid in the grounds is supposed to burn them. The other they didn't seem to notice, so I'm still in the testing phase here.
